My immediately preceding telegram No. 1394 [of 27th October: extraterritoriality 7.

The following amendments should be made in the draft treaty contained in my tulegram N. 1353 [of the 18th October_7, 21 as corrected by my telegram No. 1359 of the 19th October 7.

In the last sentence of Article 2 the words "which shall be exercised" should be omitted.

Article 3 (ii) should read as follows: Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom will co-operate with the Government of the Republic of China for the reaching of any necessary agreements with the other Governments concerned for the transfer to the Government of the Republic of China of the administration and control of the diplomatic quarter at Peiping, including the official assets and the official obligations of the diplomatic quarter, it being mutually under- stood that the Government of the Republic of China, in taking

Last sentence of original draft is deleted.
